Anwita Niju, a Std. 7 student of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School, Perumthiruthi, Kozhikode, is a versatile student who has tried her hand in dance, music and sports.
Anwita has been an ardent yoga practitioner from the time she was in Std. 4 and has displayed the subtle science of harmony between mind and body.
She is an active participant in school events of district, state and even national championships.
Anwita has added many feathers to her cap by winning several competitions in the year 2022. A few of her achievements are:
1st prize in Calicut District Sports Yoga Competition
1st prize in NYF District Yoga Competition
1st prize in NYSF District Yoga Competition
1st prize in District Yoga Olympiad
1st prize in State Yoga Olympiad
She participated in the National Yoga Competition held in Maharashtra and she is looking forward to participating in the National Yoga Olympiad.
Deekshith M V of Class 4 of Bhavan’s School, a gifted budding artist, started showing his aptitude in drawing from a tender age. His pencil drawings are very realistic and helped him take his drawing skills to the next level. He has shown his talent in artistic water colours, acrylic water colours, glass paint, coffee paint, oil paste, mural painting, etc. and bagged many prizes in various painting competitions.
This young artist was fortunate enough to conduct a three-day art exhibition titled ‘Dreams of Colours’ at S.K. Pottakkadu Cultural Centre, inaugurated by the renowned artist Shri Madanan.
It was indeed a feast for art lovers!
In connection with the get-together meeting of all units of Bhavan’s Kendra in Kerala, Sri Jagdish Prakash Lakhaniji, the Joint Executive Secretary and Registrar of Bhavan, visited Calicut on December 10 and 11, 2022. He visited the schools and interacted with the principals and teachers.
Sri J. P. Lakhaniji released the book written by Acharyasri A. K. B. Nair titled ‘Sri Shankaracharya Darshana Dwadashakam’ by handing over a copy of the book to Dr. V. Unnikrishnan Nair, Vice Chairman, BVB Kendra Trivandrum.
The Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) was set up in Bhavan’s School, Chevayur, to foster curiosity, creativity and imagination in young minds and to inculcate skills such as a developing a design-oriented mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing, etc. The lab was inaugurated on December 10, 2022, by Shri. Jagdish Lakhani, Joint Executive Secretary and Registrar, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Shri. Ramankutty Warrier, Director of Bhavan’s Kochi Kendra was the Guest of Honour. The function was presided over by Shri. A K B Nair, Chairman, Bhavan’s Kozhikode Kendra.
During the inaugural function of the ATL, a PowerPoint presentation of the school’s achievement in robotics was shown and self-prepared projects of students were displayed. Students also spoke about the various equipments of the ATL and explained how to use them. Master Ritwik Sreenish, the National Level winner in Robotics, also described his various innovative projects and products that were created to help the community. Shri Jagdish Lakhani appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and talents and wished them good luck. He also visited the School Radio station ‘Bhavans Radio 19.90’. The student RJs (radio jockeys) had a session with Lakhani Sir and Ramankutty Sir, which went on air during the lunch break on December 12, 2022.
The Malabar Sports and Recreation foundation (M.S.R.F.) Calicut is planning to establish a world-class football academy at Calicut to groom talent on the principle of ‘catch them young’, and train them in a professional manner by using knowhow from the best football clubs of the world.
The M.S.R.F. invited Bhavan’s Kendra Calicut to conduct the training on the campus playground of Bhavan’s School, Perunthuruthi.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Chairman, Bhavan’s Kendra, Calicut, Acharyasri A. K. B. Nair and the Chairman M.S.R.F. Calicut, Sri Vijayan Balakrishnan, former Chief Secretary of Goa, in April.
The Kendra office bearers, principals of Bhavan’s schools, and former Indian Ambassador to Guatemala, Sri Sajiv Babu, were present on the occasion.
