The Bhavans Kottayam Kendra was started in 1992-93. The founder Chairman was late Sri Mammen Varghese, Managing Editor of 'Malayala Manorama' newspaper group. That year itself we started the PG Diploma in Journalism for graduates. We are organizing this programme for the last 30 years. So far about 400 persons have acquired PG from our institution.

The Munshi Oration conducted on January 17, 2025 at Bhavans Vidya Mandir Auditorium was inaugurated by Sri. Suryakaladi Suryan Subramanya Bhattathiripad, the chief priest of Kaladi Ganapathi temple, Kottayam. The annual lecture in memory of Kulapathi Dr. K M Munshi was given by Dr. Alexander Jacob IPS (Rtd, DGP) Kerala.He narrated the life of Dr. K. M. Munshi in an attractive language and shed light on the great works of Dr. K. M. Munshi.
This year’s Munshi award instituted by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kottayam for outstanding works in Cultural, Education, Social, Media and Business field was presented to Dr. N. Radhakrishnan, a vascular surgeon with an illustrious career spanning over five decades.
Cultural Outreach Programme

Kottayam Kendra in association with Bhavan’s–Infosys foundation conducted a cultural outreach programme on January 17, 2025.
Two performing arts, Ottanthullal and Parunthattam, were performed by Smt.Remya Krishnan and Sri Baby Koomabdi respectively as a means to revive them.

With the goal of introducing medicinal plants to the new generation, Nagarjuna Ayurveda and Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir School have jointly established a medicinal plant garden in the school premises.
The garden contains around 30 rare medicinal plants. Shri. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, MLA, inaugurated the Medicinal Plants Garden in a function attended by various dignitaries. A seminar on rare plants and medicinal plants was conducted by Shri. Baby Joseph, Manager, Nagarjuna Agricultural Department.
Students’ Savings Bank Accounts

Financial literacy is the need of the hour and to make the children literate in this field, the school has introduced a new scheme, ‘Students’ Savings Bank Accounts’, in association with Kerala Gramin Bank Manarcadu. The formal inauguration of the students’ account scheme was done by Shri. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, MLA.
Dr P G R Pillai gave a brief description about Dr K M Munshi and narrated the genesis of the Bhavan and his contribution as an architect of the constitution of India. This was followed by a video show about Munshiji.

A year long ‘Geriatric Health Care Course’ at Bhavan’s Geriatric Care Skill Development Center was launched by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kottayam Centre and it commenced on November 1 at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir Complex, Parampuzha, Kottayam. The course was formally inaugurated on October 1, 2024, by the eminent Surgeon, Shri Dr. P. G. Ramakrishna Pillai, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kottayam and former Superintendent of Gandhinagar Government Medical College, Kottayam and also Director of various medical colleges in Kerala.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan-Infosys Foundation- conducted the Pavakali programme, a traditional folk art form as part of the Bhavan-Infosys foundation cultural outreach programme.
Pavakali is a unique art form where the artist balances puppets on her upper lip and performs along with folk music. The only two living artists in the field are Padmasree Moozhikkal Pankajakshi and her granddaughter Smt. K. S. Renjini. The artist Smt K. S. Renjini performed stories from the Ramayana and other stories.
