The Goa Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was founded on 26th January 2004. The Kendra is run by an Executive Committee headed by Chairman Shri. Narayan R. Bandekar.
The Goa Kendra Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan founded a Pre-Primary school which became operational from the academic year 2004-05. The school was named Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Vikas Vidyalaya. The school got upgraded to a Primary school from the academic year 2007-08. The Kendra could buy their own land at Upasnagar, and new school building was constructed. The primary section of the school was shifted to its own building at Upasnagar in the academic year 2010-11. The school was renamed as 'Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Narayan Bandekar School' in recognition of the contributions received from the noted Industrialist and Chairman of NRB Group Shri. Narayan Rajaram Bandekar.
This school is a place where a child experiences its first interactions with the outside world, seen in this perspective. School Education is of prime importance for the all-round development of children, because this is where they first access the requisite know-how essential for standing upto the demands of modern life-styles. This is exactly what Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Narayan Bandekar School, Goa is striving to achieve. Scholastic areas not only include academic performance of the child through Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) for Class I and II, Classes III - X in two terms i.e Term I and Term II but also learning through various activities, field trips, art and craft, general knowledge, computer science etc. on the other hand co-scholastic area would include life-skills like thinking, social and emotional skills, honesty, self-confidence, co-operation, diligence and to promote talents for leadership and responsibility, attitude towards teachers, schoolmates, class activities, school property, creative and scientific skills are also encouraged through school curriculum. The school also has a well-equipped Library with vast collection of fiction and non-fiction books, newspapers and periodicals.
The school attaches great importance to a varied programme of activities outside the ordinary class routine like interschool competitions - Elocution, Dance, General Knowledge, Drawing & Painting, Music etc. These are designed to develop important traits of character like honesty, self-confidence, co-operation and diligence and to promote talent for leadership and responsibility.
