Bhavanotsava

'Bhavanotsava' a two-day festival of music, dance and performing arts marking the 132nd birth anniversary of Kulapathi Dr. K.M. Munshi, Founder-President of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mysuru was celebrated on February 8 - 9, 2020 at BVB premises in Vijayanagar, Mysuru.
Inaugurating the programme, renowned musician Smt. Dr. R. N. Srilatha recalled Dr. K.M Munshi's association with music, dance and arts. She lauded BVB, Mysuru Kendra in encouraging the cultural tradition.
Renowned musicians and students of Kalabharathi presented a music, dance and arts programme. BVB Bengaluru Chairman Sri N. Ramanuja, BVB Mysuru Chairman Dr. A. V. Narasimhamurthy, Treasurer Dr. A. T. Bhashyam, Director & Chairperson at Nrityalaya, Mysuru Dr. Tulasi Ramachandra, Former Administrator Wing Commander Sri S. C. Balasubramanyam and Administrator Sudhindra Raj and large number of parents of the music, dance and art lovers were present.


Walkathon and an Exhibition

The students of Bhavan's Priyamvada Birla Inst. of Mgmt. visited Mathru Mandali Shishu Vikasa Kendra on February 27, 2020. The students actively spent time with the differently abled kids. Together they prepared artistically designed wax candles, paper bags, greeting cards and jewellery and also enjoyed singing and dancing with them.
The next day BPBIM students conducted a walkathon along with the differently abled kids from Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara temple, Vontikoppal to Mathru Mandali. The walkathon was flagged off by Sri Mohan Kumar, former Chairman, MUDA, Sri N. Ramanuja Chairman, BVB, Dr. A. V. Narasimhamurthy Resident Director BPBIM, Dr. A.T. Bhasyam Director BPBIM, Smt. Vijaya Urs President Mathru Mandali, Smt Vani Secretary Mathru Mandali. The Walkathon was followed by a street drama enacted to create awareness about Road safety amongst the public.
An Exhibition cum sale was also organised for the products prepared by the kids. The proceeds from the sale was used for the welfare of the differently abled kids.


Faculty Exchange Programme

Three professors of Bhavan's Priyamvada Birla Institute of Management Prof. Govardhan N, Prof. Sudhakar Kulkarni and Prof. Anusha Thangaraj are in North Dakota State University, USA for a period of two and half months on a Faculty Exchange programme on the different aspects of Management sciences.


Padma Vibhushan to Prof. B.M. Hegde

Prof. B.M. Hegde, Chairman of Mysore Kendra was recently conferred the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award, for his contributions to the field of medicine.
Dr Hedge was conferred with the Padma Bhushan in 2010.
This award is a recognition of the excellence achieved by Prof. Hegde in the fields of Education, Medical Science and Health.
The Bhavan wishes him all the very best.


Students Donate for Teacher's Surgery

In a noble gesture, the students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Vijayanagar, Mysuru, donated Rs. 3,25,000 to BVB Art teacher Mallika Darshan, who had to undergo kidney and pancreas surgeries.
The teachers and staff of BVB also contributed their one day's salary towards this noble cause.
The patient is now slowly recovering after being discharged from the hospital. The donor of the kidneys and pancreas was a 19-year-old boy from Malavalli, who died in an accident.
