Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Wadakanchery Kendra (114th Kendra) was inaugurated on 17th January 2003 by Member of Parliament Mr. S Ajaykumar.
Balamandir was inaugurated on 2nd June 2003 with two divisions & KG to start from Brahman Sabha to begin with and then from the premises of Shri. Ajit Mallayya on token rentals for next five years.
Primary School classes started from AY 2004-05 with a student strength of 179 students.
3.50 acres land at Akamala was donated to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan for starting CBSE School by Soudhrdha Group & their MD , Shri. P.N. Rajan. The foundation for School Building was laid on 16/1/2004. School Building was inaugurated on 14/11/2005 by Pravinchandra Gandhi in the presence of Shri. HN Dastur, Shri. PR Krishnamoorthy, Shri. AV Venkatachalam, and Smt. & Shri. Sundararaman, son of the late Shri. S Ramakrishnan and Panchayat Pradhans.
Wadakanchery Kendra has one Balamandir (KG Section) and one Higher Secondary School.
NEWS & EVENTS
A function was held at the Kerala Brahmana Sabha Hall in Wadakkanchery to honour G. Sivaswamy, who turned 90 years of age on September 12, 2024. He has been closely associated with the Kendra since almost the last three decades.
The Investiture Ceremony of Bhavan’s S. Ramakrishnan Memorial Public School, Akamala, was held on June 28, 2024, in the school auditorium. The event marked a significant milestone in the academic year, as student leaders were formally appointed to their positions. The student council members proudly marched, their footsteps in unison, symbolising their unity and commitment to leadership and service. Then the newly elected student council members, comprising the Head Boy, Head Girl, Vice Head Boy, Vice Head Girl, Sports Captain, Vice-Captain, Fine Arts Secretary, House Captains, Vice Captains and Prefects were introduced. The highlight of the ceremony was the pinning of badges and the oath-taking ceremony, where the student leaders pledged to discharge their duties with integrity and dedication.
Kathakali Spectacle
The students and faculty of Bhavan’s S Ramakrishnan Memorial Public School were treated to a captivating Kathakali performance on July 1, 2024. The event was organised to introduce the students to India’s rich cultural heritage and classical art forms.
The performance, presented by the Kathakali School, Cheruthuruthy, brought the ancient epic tale of ‘Kuchelavritham’ to life. The artistes who performed on the stage were Kalamandalam Narayankutty and Kalamandalam Sivadasan as Kuchela and Krishna. The performance was accompanied by a brief introduction and explanation of the story by Kalamandalam Gopalakrishnan, Director of the Kathakali School.
Bhavan’s S. Ramakrishnan Memorial Public School, Akamala, organised a felicitation ceremony for the high achievers of CBSE, SSCE and SSE 2024, on May 28, 2024. The occasion was presided over by the school chairman Shri P.N. Rajan. The school toppers, subject toppers, and students who secured 90 percent and above were felicitated. Cash prize was awarded to five students for scoring a centum in Sanskrit. The prize money was sponsored by Kendra committee member Shri C.S. Vydianathan, in memory of his late grandfather Shri C.K. Vydianatha Sastrigal (Sanskrit pandit and teacher).
‘SARANG 2023 – the 21st Annual Day celebration of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s S. Ramakrishnan Memorial Public School was held on December 2, 2023. The Chief Guest Dr. V V Unnikrishnan, the Vice Principal, professor and head of physiology, Medical College, Thrissur graced the occasion.
The Annual Prize Distribution was a moment of pride and honour for all the winners and achievers of the school. The students were awarded prizes in academic as well as co-curricular areas. After the inaugural session, various cultural programmes were presented by
the students.
Bhavan’s S Ramakrishnan Memorial Public School, Akamala, is rendering a helping hand to the poor and the needy.
The students of Std. 8 and 9 made a visit to ‘Snehalayam’, an old-age home located in Mundathikode.
They provided the inmates with the things for their basic necessity and also sponsored the lunch with their poor fund collection.
Bhavan’s Akamala also became a part of the ‘Together for Thrissur’ campaign by providing the necessary things to six extremely poor families, suggested by the Mullurkkara Grama Panchayat. The things are distributed every month.
