Tablet based classroom teaching at Bhavan Vidyalaya Junior, Chandigarh
|
India's first tablet-based classroom management platform was launched at Bhavan Vidyalaya Junior, Chandigarh. The pilot project, initiated by the Gurgaon based 'The Curriculum Company' (TCC), kicked off with 40 tablets which were distributed among the students of class III. The Think Tab enabled teachers to share knowledge with the students without the use of internet in several formats and even outside the purview of the prescribed textbooks and digital content available inside the classrooms. They were also able to perform assessments of several kinds, all within the reach of a simple touch/click. Above all, the tablet helped in bringing all the children into the fold by keeping them engaged throughout the class. The state-of-art teacher dashboard allowed the teachers to see what each child was doing and who needed remediation or enrichment. The School Principal, Ms. Taruna Vashisht said that the tablet based classroom teaching is the "second phase" in making classrooms more technology friendly and interactive. She feels that this would definitely open new horizons in the field of teaching-learning process.
