Centenary Celebration
|
Bhavan's Trichy Kendra in association with Global Music Forum of Cleveland Thyagaraja festival organised a function to celebrate the birth centenary of vocalist Shri Madurai Mani Iyer on October 7, 2012. The chief guest for the function was Dr. V.K.Vishwanathan from NASA, Los Alamos, USA who paid rich tributes to the musical maestro and narrated several anecdotes from his life.
The guest of honour, Shri V. V. Sundaram, recalled the contribution of Shri Madurai Mani Iyer from 1920 to 1950 to the world of music and his role as a guru and guide to various musicians.
The programme concluded with a vocal music concert by Shri R. Suryaprakash. He was accompanied by Shri M.R. Gopinath on the violin and Shri Tiruvarur Vaidyanathan on the mridangam.
The Trichy Kendra, as part of its Navaratri celebrations, also conducted a Veena concert by Veenai B. Sivakumar and his students.
