Dr. V. Parameshvara passed away on May 1, 2020. He was 90 years old. Dr. V. Parameshvara's association with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan dates back to sixty years.
He was the Vice Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bengaluru Kendra and the Founding Member of the Board of Trustees, Sanskrit Promotion Foundation, New Delhi. It is relevant to recall that he sponsored many programmes at Bhavan in connection with Bhagavad Gita.
Dr. V. Parameshvara was a gifted and renowned physician. Despite excelling in studies in the UK, he returned and began his own practice in Bengaluru. It was no
surprise that he became popular with the people at large, both as an erudite clinician as well as a humane individual caring for his patients.
Recognition came in the form of several Fellowships, including Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Royal College of Physicians of London and Edinburgh, Association of Physicians of India, Cardiological Society of India, etc. One of Dr. V. Parameshvara's major achievements was the publication of the Encyclopedia of Indian Medicine in six volumes, a pioneering endeavour to revive the ancient system of Indian Medicine for the current generation and for posterity.
Dr. V. Parameshvara won numerous awards and recognitions and was involved in a lot of philanthropic and charitable activities.
N. Ramanuja, Chairman, BVB -Bengaluru, while expressing his sorrow on the demise of Dr. Parameshvara, said, "His cherished memories of advice and kind words will continue to guide me. I cannot forget his love for humanity and dedication to service. He continued to see patients in his clinic every morning despite his failing health. His passing away is a personal loss for me. What makes me feel sad is that his demise has come at a time when we were not able to bid him a proper farewell."
The Kendra will definitely miss his guidance. May his soul rest in peace.
