A five-day free workshop (April 9th to 13th) on Kathak, Bharathanatyam, Kuchipudi, Warli and Mural Paintings, in association with SPICMACAY, had around 200 participants and was a success. The sessions were led by eminent artists. Ms. Debjaya Sarkar, an ICCR and Doordarshan graded artist, led the workshop for Kathak. Deepti Parol, an eminent Bharatanatyam exponent was in charge of the Bharatanayam workshop. Ms.Payal Ramchandani, also an ICCR rated artist conducted the Kuchipudi workshop. Mr. K.R. Babu and Mr. Chandrakant were in charge of Mural and Warli Paintings respectively. On the concluding day, there was a demonstration by the students and the Gurus and an exhibition of the paintings. The performance by Debjaya Sarkar and Payal Ramchandani was exhilarating and kept the audience virtually enthralled.
Clay modelling and painting workshop (3rd April to 13th), which was conducted by experts in their respective fields, were enthusiastically welcomed by students. On the concluding day, there was an exhibition of sculptural articles and paintings by students.
Mr.Jagdish Chitara, an expert in the field of Kalamkari, led the seven-day Kalamkari workshop, from April 23rd to April 29th. The participants enjoyed the unique experience.
Busy Bees (vacation class), conducted by Special Educators of Bhavan's schools, had kids buzzing around the continents, the theme for this year.
On 28th April, there was a valedictory function which marked the end of the workshops and vacation classes for the summer vacations.
