Art and Cultural Outreach Programme
|
The Art & Cultural outreach programme of Bhavan's Bhubaneshwar Kendra in association with the Infosys Foundation saw significant improvement during 2016-17. The year's programmes featured 23 events including one from Rajasthan under the auspices of the Music Circle, Bhubaneshwar, covering Chait Ghoda Dance to Lanka Podi involving more than 400 artistes.
The acceptance of the programmes by the general public gives scope for further improvements by adding more art forms, involving talented musicians and instrumentalists. The Kendra plans to hold the programmes in the ensuing year(2017-18) in all the 30 districts of Odisha primarily to revive dying arts, provide support to artistes and to seek more support from the Infosys Foundation.
The Outreach programmes during 2016-17 were funded by the Infosys Foundation to the tune of Rs.5.30 lakh while the Kendra spent a substantial amount to develop an Open Air Theatre and associated infrastructure. Though the remuneration to the artistes was low their commitment and enthusiasm were encouraging.
The year 2017-18 is expected to be more enthralling to art lovers and a further revival of Odisha arts.
