The Bhavan organised Memorial Lectures from eminent persons on the theme Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam a Role Model for all of us on October 14, 2016. The lectures were attended by Principals, staff and students of Bhavan's schools, Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Kendra Vice Chairman Shri S. Gopalakrishnan welcomed everyone and Shri M. Gopalakrishna, IAS (Retd.), highlighted the significant contributions made by Dr. Abdul Kalam to the country.
Prof. Sumita Roy said that Dr. Abdul Kalam has left footprints on the sands of time for the guidance of future generation of India. Shri L. Ravichander, Senior Counsel, emphasised that principles of simplicity, hard work and determination believed and practised by Dr. Kalam are the guidelines for the present day youth. Swami Bodhamaya-nandaji, Director, Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence, R. K. Math, said that the present day youth are at a crossroads in the absence of role models and reiterated that the life of Dr. Abdul Kalam who was born in an ordinary family in a remote village and rose from a scientist to President of India, is an inspiration to youth. Shri I.Y.R. Krishna Rao, IAS (Retd.), Chairman of Bhavan's Hyderabad Kendra, narrated the challenges faced by Dr. Abdul Kalam and the manner in which he had overcome them are the lessons to be learnt by all us.
