Awareness for polio-Free India

Rotary International organised a mega event on December 10, 2015 at Elante Mall to celebrate Polio free India in which three hundred students from Bhavan Vidyalaya participated. The students joined a larger group of students drawn from several other schools from the tricity to support the cause of Polio Free World. Shri K.R. Ravindran, President of the Rotary International and the first lady R'ann Vanathy were the Chief Guest at the event. The school was awarded a Certificate of Commendation in recognition of its commendable contribution to Rotary during 2015-16 in its fight against polio.
Eight students from the school were also presented with badges of honour for their contribution towards the cause.
As part of the celebration, many competitions were organised by Rotary International in which the following students excelled under different categories.
In the Declamation Competition, Simmerdeep Kaur of Class X C claimed the 1st Position and Rudhir Mehra of Class X C came 2nd. In the Essay Writing Competition, Aashna Gupta of class X C clinched the 1st spot.
The famous celebrity from Punjabi cinema, Harbhajan Singh Mann graced the occasion to support the movement. Several programmes such as a Street Play, Band Display and Punjabi Gidda were organised to raise awareness about the programme and to entertain the students. The participating students also took an oath to eradicate polio from the country.
