VIII National Integration Camp
|
The VIII National Integration Camp was organized at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kodagu Vidyalaya under the guidance of Bhavan's Shikshan Bharathi from 15th-20th May 2017. The camp was flagged off with floral tributes to stalwarts - Field Marshall K.M.Cariappa, General Thimmaiah, Mahatma Gandhi, Kuvempu, War Memorial followed by a walkathon-walk for peace and unity. The camp was inaugurated by Sri N.Ramanuja Chairman Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bengaluru Kendra and chaired by Sri H.N. Suresh, Director Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bengaluru Kendra, and presided by Sri B.K.Subiah, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kodagu Vidyalaya. Sri Rakesh Saxena director, Shiksan Bharathi delivered the Inaugural address. The camp had a turnout of 440 students and escort teachers from 64 Bhavan Schools .
The highlights of the camp were Yoga and Gita chanting, interactive sessions by eminent speakers, Sri H.N. Suresh , Dr. Narasimhan, Justice Santosh Hedge, Sri K.G.Premnath, Air Marshall K.C.Cariappa on topics like Astadikpalakas, Bird Watching, Fighting Corruption, The Defence Forces and Vetiver-wonder Grass. Cultural Shows by exponents Kum. Poorvi Garud, Hindustani recital, Sri Kogga Bhaskar Kamath's Puppetry, Smt Chitrh Aravind's folk dances of India, and students of participating schools promoting the theme EKTA-Unity in Diversity were showcased.
Campers were exposed to various art forms of Karnataka through intensive workshops in Chithara, Kamsale, Yakshagana, theatre, Light Music and local art forms by exponents in the respective fields. The camp concluded with Sri K.P.Uthappa, Vice Chairman Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kodagu Vidyalaya presiding, chaired by Sri C.B.Deviah correspondent of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kodagu Vidyalaya and Sri K.S. Devaiah Chairman Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kodagu Kendra as the guest of Honour.
