Letter from Shri H.N. Dastur
to Principals of Bhavans Schools
Dear Principal,
Now that the Supreme Court has upheld the constitutional validity of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, reserving 25 per cent of the seats for the socially disadvantaged and economically weaker sections of society, all the Bhavan's schools have to strive their best to implement the provisions of the Act.
The school is a place where a child experiences its first interactions with the outside world. Seen in this perspective, school education is of prime importance for the all-round development of a child, because this is where they first access the requisite know-how essential for standing upto the demands of modern life-styles. This is exactly what Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Narayan Bandekar School - Goa is striving to achieve.
From Class I and II we follow the CCE method where Scholastic Areas not only include academic performance of the child through Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE), but also learning through various activities, field trips, art, craft, general knowledge, computer science etc. On the other hand Co-Scholastic area include life-skills like thinking, social and emotional skills, honesty, self-confidence, co-operation, diligence and to promote talents for leadership and responsibility, attitude towards teachers, schoolmates, class activities, school property, creative and scientific skills are also encouraged through school curriculum.
From Class: III - X we follow a Uniform System of Assessment. This new scheme will bring the uniformity in the system of assessment and examination for classes III to X in all the CBSE affiliated schools, this will help to increase the confidence in the students to start preparing for class X Board examination. The scheme for classes: III - X has been designed on Term Assessment basis with gradual increase in the learning assessment as the students move forward.
