Letter from Shri H.N. Dastur
to Principals of Bhavans Schools
Dear Principal,
Now that the Supreme Court has upheld the constitutional validity of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, reserving 25 per cent of the seats for the socially disadvantaged and economically weaker sections of society, all the Bhavan's schools have to strive their best to implement the provisions of the Act.
Established in 1954 with the basic objectives of nurturing in the children the best of values of Indian culture along with modern knowledge and outlook, Bhavan's Mehta Vidyalaya, an English medium co-educational public school, provides formal and formative education from kindergarten to senior secondary level. Affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and with strength of 2,200 students and 90 teaching and 30 non-teaching Staff, the school has made a mark for itself in the educational sector by providing a synthesis of modern learning and the glorious Indian heritage in Education and Culture.
Aimed at all-round development of the child, the school is equipped with most modern Science,Maths, Language and Computer laboratories, the best of libraries with around 40,000 books and a sprawling play-grounds. Along with academic knowledge, Mehta Vidyalaya has designed its curriculum incorporating a wide range of programmes and activities for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual development of the child. Classical Music, Dance, Fine Arts, Sanskrit Education, Culture Course, Community Service Programme, Yoga and Physical Education form essential components of the school curriculum. Three well-equipped Hi-tech computer laboratories ensure adequate exposure to information technology and its tools. State of art Language Lab enhances the ability of the students in teaching- learning activities.
