Next Gita Examinations will be held on Saturday-Sunday, 21-22, December, 2024. Those who are interested in appearing for these examinations at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Head Office, Mumbai; may contact and submit their application- forms (with prescribed fees) before 06-12-2024, at the above-mentioned office.

The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Gita Vidyalaya (Academy for the study of Indian culture with special reference to the Bhagavad Gita) was established in 1945. It conducted several discourses and lectures on the Gita by eminent scholars till 1958. From 1958, the Bhavan's Gita Examinations are conducted, twice a year (in May and December), at various Gita examination centres in India and abroad.
The details of the four Gita Examinations are as under:-

  1. Gita Prarambha [One Question Paper]
  2. Gita Pravesha [Two Question Papers]
  3. Gita Parichaya [Three Question Papers]
  4. Gita Kovida [Four Question Papers]

    Text-book for Gita Prarambha Exam.
    (One question-paper)
    This text-book contains the word-to-word translation of 1-3 Adhyayas of the Gita, along with Sanskrit text.
  2. Gita Pathavali Part-2
    Text-book for Gita Pravesha Exam.
    (First question-paper)
    This text-book contains the word-to-word translation of 4-7 Adhyayas of the Gita, along with Sanskrit text.
  3. Mahabharata ki Katha evam Patra-parichaya
    Text-book for Gita Pravesha Exam.
    (Second question-paper)
    This text-book contains the brief story contained in each of the eighteen books (Parvan-s) of the Mahabharata, as well as the short sketches of leading characters of the epic.
  4. Gita Pathavali Part-3

    This text-book contains the word-to-word translation of 8-10 Adhyayas of the Gita, along with Sanskrit text.

Opening A New Centre

The permission for opening a new centre for conducting Bhavan's Saral Sanskrit Examinations is given to schools, educational institutes, and Sanskrit scholars who have the facility of teaching the courses of these examinations.
