Bhavan’s Mumbadevi Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, established in 1939, was included in ‘Adarsh Pathashala Scheme’ of Ministry of Education, Government of India, in 1977, and was renamed as Mumbadevi Adarsh Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya. It is a leading Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya (Oriental College) in India, which is conducting courses for higher studies in Sanskrit Shastras (scriptures) - Vyakarana (grammar), Sahitya (Sanskrit poetics and creative literature) and Advaita-vedanta [philosophy of monism (non-dualism) propounded by Adi Shankaracharya].
Following courses are conducted at the Mahavidyalaya, and they are recognised by all State Govts., and Central Govt. :-
The Mahavidyalaya regularly organise talks, lectures, academic functions and Vagvardhini Sabha (debate in Sanskrit) for developing students’ oratorical skills.
