The knowledge and grasp of modern technology have become imperative for all in today's technology-driven world. Bhavan's Gandhi Institute for Computer Education and Information Technology (GICEIT) has taken initiatives to fulfill the basic need of the Digital Empowerment progamme and opportunities for academic enrichment and better job opportunities for the recipients, particularly those belonging to the weaker sections.
Gandhi Institute of Computer Education and Information Technology (GICEIT), was founded in 1996. GICEIT was founded with a mission, vision, and objective to uplift and empower especially those members of our society who are educationally and financially deprived in obtaining Digital literacy.
The prime objective of GICEIT has been to educationally and financially empower the disadvantaged and the deprived. It imparts FREE computer education. These Courses include Accounts Assistant Course, Office Assistant Course, Desk-top Publishing Course, a specially-designed Course for Senior Citizens, and Training in English Communication. As time passed by, the profile of the beneficiaries has expanded to include school/college drop-outs, senior citizens, housewives, semi-skilled persons, etc. who have been bypassed by the technological revolution that has been re-shaping the world. The inputs provided to them by GICEIT Courses have helped them not only in securing gainful employment/work but also in their day-to-day activities.
To date, more than 4,00,000 individuals have benefited through 36 centers that offer this facility all across India. For the last more than 25 years, GICEIT has been diligently pursuing this mission with the help of generous financial assistance from Dr. Hogen Fukunaga, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Prime Minister's National Relief Fund, the Oil & Natural Gas Commission (ONGC), the ICICI Bank, The Rural India Support Trust, the Hans Foundation, etc.
