Sunil Deodhar, an eminent poet himself welcomed the reputed poets and audience by saying “It is a confluence of many sister languages of India today. The languages Hindi, Urdu, Marathi and Gujarati will converse with each other with the help of verses.” He quotes Agyeya while mentioning the expectations of a poet, let a reader read me, listen to me while appreciating my each word or do what he/she love to do. He quoted Umashankar Joshi who considered poetry as the language of soul. The audience was eagerly waiting to witness the aesthetic richness of the said languages.
Prafulla Shiledar, a published and award winner poet from Nagpur was invited as a very first poet of the event. He recited his verses in Marathi and Hindi. Audience appreciated his ‘Haravleli Vastu’ and ‘Waha bar bar milta hai Har chauraahe par.’ Gujarati poet Udayan Thakkar recited ‘Asmita’ in Gujarati and ‘Fatima Gul ki Chitthi’ in Hindi illustrating many colours of emotion.
Obaid Azam Azmi, the Urdu poet of the event presented some inimitable shers and ghazals related to love and adoration (ishq and muhabbat). His final piece was a touching unusual ghazal of very long behr (one line equivalent to almost four small lines).
Bodhisattwa, a Hindi poet read some of the poems from his books. He read the verses called ‘Chaahtaa hoon, Maa kaa naach, Chhota aadmi and Shok soochak shila lekh’ which revealed simple earthy emotions and poetic truth. Pradnya Daya Pawar read her Marathi poem ‘Bulldozer’ that reflected the voice of women, and a Hindi poem ‘Kavayitri ko moh hota hai’.
Rajesh Reddy presented many beautiful Urdu shers and a fresh ghazal. Sitanshu Yashashchandra, Padma shri and many other awards winner read ‘Taaje tardid taa kino and Dagar dagar’ that reflected empathy and sympathy. Vishwanath Sachdev, an eminent journalist and poet concluded the evening with his unique verse ‘Kavita samajhne ke liye.’
