Containing over a thousand names of the various characters appearing in the Mahabharata, the great epic of Vyasa, this little book provides, in alphabetical order, short biographical notes about hundreds of kings, warriors, rishis, sages, rakshasas, apsaras, nagas, gandharvas, kinnaras, yakshas, rudras, etc. It brings together, in one place and in a concise, easily readable form, a great mass of valuable information scattered over several large volumes.In the case of events which occurred hundreds or even thousands of years before the great Mahabharata war, these have been recalled here with a view to linking the various characters in the narration with the principal Kaurava-Pandava heroes.
A number of genealogical charts makes it easy to understand the complex inter-relationships of various characters spread over a number of generations. The section on 'Guide to Pronunciation' is helpful in pronouncing correctly different names and terms.
