'Aashirvachanam'

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya organised the Farewell Ceremony ‘Aashirvachanam’ for Class 12 on February 6, 2026. The Chief Guest, Shri Himanshu Gupta, IAS, encouraged them to become job creators and responsible citizens. The event also witnessed the release of the school’s biannual publication, ‘Bhavidya’, and concluded with blessings, nostalgia, and hope for a purposeful future.

POCSO, Bullying, JJ Act, and Child Rights & Safety Awareness

On February 10, 2026 a session was organised, to sensitise bus drivers and lady guards about critical laws and rights related to Child Safety, including POCSO, Bullying, JJ Act, and Child Rights, emphasising their role in safeguarding children during transportation.

Bal Utsav

The school campus blossomed into a vibrant carnival of colours, laughter, and joy as Bal Utsav was celebrated on February 13, 2026. The beautifully decorated grounds were adorned with flowers, artistic displays, and lively stalls that created a festive atmosphere. Numerous food, clothing, and game stalls were thoughtfully put up by parents, whose enthusiastic involvement added warmth and excitement to the celebration. The air was filled with delicious aromas and cheerful chatter. Students eagerly participated in games, won exciting prizes, and shared moments of happiness.

National-Level Achievement

Atharva Baliyan of Class 11 from Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya participated in Veer Gatha 5.0, a prestigious national-level initiative, organised by the MoD in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, and secured a prize at the national level. The initiative aims to disseminate the inspiring acts of bravery of Gallantry Awardees and highlight the life stories of these brave heroes among students.
As a part of the honour, Atharva Baliyan was invited to Bharat Mandapam on January 24, 2026 to receive a medal, and a cash prize. Additionally, he was accorded the distinguished opportunity to witness the Republic Day Parade in the presence of eminent dignitaries. He is also scheduled to be felicitated by SCERT in recognition of his outstanding achievement.

Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha (MVPP)

Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha (MVPP) is a scholarship exam conducted by Science Branch, DOE for the students studying in Class 9 in Delhi schools. The student achievers Huma Soni (State rank 95) of Class 10 and Vishnu KK (State rank 48) of Class 10 were felicitated by Ms Dimple Joneja, Principal, Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya and Ms Keerti Chaturvedi, Senior Academic Coordinator, Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya with an appreciation certificate along with the scholarship amount of Rs 5000/- from DOE.

The Creative Craft Channel

Students of the school participated in the HT Art Fest 2025 held on December 15, 2025 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, in collaboration with Hindustan Times. In the Creative Craft Challenge, Satti Kumari (Class 5) and Harshali Chauhan (Class 5) secured the second position and won the runners-up trophy.

World Book Fair

Bhavan’s Delhi Kendra participated in the New Delhi World Book Fair 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from 10 to 18 January 10-18, 2026.

Representing Bhavan at Deccan College

Prof. Dr. Shashibala was invited by the Deccan College, Pune to share her insights during a consultative meeting held on December 22-23, 2025, on the occasion of establishing the Centre of IKS-EDS of Central Sanskrit University. The objective was to chart the long-term academic roadmap, strengthen national and international collaboration, and ensure the highest standards of scholarly excellence at the Centre of IKS-EDS of CSU, Deccan College, Pune.
Sanskrit scholars of excellence had started ‘Sanskrit Dictionary on Historical Principles’ in 1948 at Deccan College, Pune. The dictionary will be published in more than 300 volumes based on 1,10,00,000 cards made over decades. Centre of Indology, BVB, DK has taken up a project ‘A New Sanskrit-English Dictionary’ with the support of Central Sanskrit University. It will be compiled in collaboration with Deccan College, Pune that has agreed to give access to their scriptorium.
Dr. Shashibala represented Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s vision, mission and the work going on over 87 years. More than 15 institutions participated in this programme.

The Adani Global Indology Conclave

Adani Group organised ‘Adani Global Indology Conclave’ in partnership with Indian Knowledge Systems Division of the Ministry of Education, GOI.
Experts in the field of Indology, academicians as well as gurus were invited from India and overseas for an immersive three-day conclave. They shared their knowledge, experience, vision and the path ahead to preserve, promote and disseminate Bharatiya Vidya at a global stage.
The entire programme was multi-disciplinary and multi-layered serving humanity at various levels horizontally and vertically.
Prof. Shashibala participated on behalf of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Centre of Indology as a panellist in the session on ‘Indology in Indosphere’. Her presentation began with a note on the definition of ‘Cultural Bharat’, called ‘Vrihadbharat’, explaining the spread of India’s Knowledge systems across its political boundaries. She highlighted its contribution to civilisational and cultural development of various countries.

Munshi Memorial Recitation and Lilavati Munshi Painting Competition

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya hosted the 52nd Munshi Memorial Recitation and Lilavati Munshi Painting Competition on April 25, 2025, celebrating creativity and artistic excellence. Chief Guest, Shri K. Siva Prasad, Director, Bhavan’s Delhi Kendra inspired participants with his motivating address. With 22 schools showcasing remarkable talent, the event fostered artistic harmony. Springdales and Balvantray Mehta Vidyalaya were declared the overall winners.

National Integration Camp – 2025

The XIII National Integration Camp 2025 was held from April 25 to May 1, 2025 at Bhavan’s Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya, Sainikpuri, Hyderabad. This prestigious annual event brought together students from Bhavan’s institutions across India to celebrate the spirit of national unity and cultural harmony. Representing Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, New Delhi, six students of Class XII—Kirti Dogra, Koyal Shruti, Sarah Nama, Aayush Adhikari, Aaditya Prakash Pandey, and Vatsal Jain—participated, guided by Ms. Avneet Kaur Babbar.
Team Mehta Vidyalaya presented ‘Bin-o-vate’, a smart IoT-based waste management system, and performed a powerful act on Women Empowerment, portraying the evolution of women from the times of Mahabharata to contemporary society.

Bagless Day Class 8

On April 28, 2025, Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya organised an engaging and enriching Bagless Day for Class 8 students. The day commenced with yoga and meditation, fostering mindfulness and focus. Students expressed creativity through a mask making session. Indulging in traditional games like ‘Tug of War’ and ‘Pithu’, they built teamwork and learnt strategic skills. A vibrant dance session enhanced rhythm, coordination, and self-expression. Learners viewed the inspirational children’s film ‘Dhanak’ at Munshi Memorial Hall, promoting resilience, empathy, and hope. The activities collectively nurtured creativity, collaboration, cultural appreciation, physical fitness, and emotional well-being, leaving students refreshed, motivated, and holistically enriched.

ANVESHAN 2025

The All India Bhavan’s Science Exhibition - ANVESHAN 2025 was held at Bhavan Vidyashram, Jaipur on April 23-24, 2025, showcasing innovative projects by students nationwide. Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya presented two exhibits—’URJACORE’, a compact solar-powered device for remote areas, and ‘PATHSHAKTI’, a digital model explaining motion in sports through Mathematics by Arnav Sharma (XI), Aarav Mehta (Class XI), Tanisha Verma (X) and Rishi Malhotra (X). Both projects demonstrated creativity, research, and practical application. Both the exhibits were ranked among the top five, inspiring scientific curiosity and confidence in the students.

M. K. Sanoo (1928-2025)

We regret the passing away of Prof. M. K. Sanoo, Bhavan’s seniormost associate on August 2, 2025 at Kochi after a brief illness. He was 98. A scholar, critic and orator, Prof. Sanoo was born in 1928 in Alleppey, Kerala and was educated at Sanatana Dharma College, Alleppey and University College, Thiruvananthapuram. After securing his Master’s Degree from Kerala University, he joined the collegiate service of the Government of Kerala.
Prof. Sanoo was the author of many books in Malayalam on literary criticism, biographies and translations including Dr. Radhakrishnan’s Recovery of Faith and Marcus Cunliff’s Literature of the United States. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was fortunate to publish his Narayana Guru: A Biography in 1978 and its revised edition in 1998.
Prof. Sanoo was known as one of Kerala’s most eloquent and powerful public speakers. A gifted orator, he was a familiar figure on platforms all around Kerala, speaking on his cherished subjects — the sanctity of freedom and the dignity of man.
After retirement from government service, Prof. Sanoo was actively associated with the literary and cultural movement of contemporary Kerala. During the general election in 1987 he was elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Ernakulam. He was also the President of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi from 1988 to 1991.
The Bhavan worldwide offers condolences to members of the bereaved family. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Annual Day

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K.G. Marg, New Delhi, celebrated its 66th Annual Day on November 18, 2024, with great enthusiasm. The distinguished Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, Chairman of Delhi Kendra, and Shri C.S. Vaidyanathan, Chairman of the School Management Committee (SMC), was the Guest of Honour. During the ceremony, meritorious teachers and students were felicitated for their outstanding contributions. The cultural programme, titled ‘Bharat Shining’, captivated the audience with a dance-drama that focused on the importance of Sustainable Development Goals and environmental stewardship. Inspired by Dr. K.M. Munshi’s vision of harmony with nature, 100 saplings were distributed to promote tree plantation and environmental responsibility.

Winter Carnival – 2024

The inaugural Winter Carnival, held at Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K.G. Marg, New Delhi, on December 24, 2024, was a vibrant celebration of creativity, culture and sustainability, bringing together students, parents and staff in a spirit of unity. Graced by distinguished dignitaries, the event featured a variety of traditional games, eco-friendly initiatives, artisanal crafts, and a wide range of culinary offerings.

Training of Trainers (ToT)

Abhinav Khetan and Tanmay Nath Jha of Std. 11 and Mandar Kasulkar of Std. 10 achieved a notable milestone by qualifying for the esteemed Zonal Informatics Olympiad. It is a testament to their expertise in computing and informatics.

The 66th Annual Day and Prize Distribution

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya celebrated its 66th Annual Day on November 18, 2024. The event was graced by Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Chairman of Delhi Kendra, Vice President of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan as Chief Guest, and Shri C.S. Vaidyanathan, Chairman, SMC, Mehta Vidyalaya, as Guest of Honour. The school magazine ‘Bhavidya’ was released by Shri Banwarilal Purohit.
Teachers who achieved 100 per cent results in their respective subjects in 2024 Board Exams were honoured, while meritorious students were awarded trophies, certificates and cash prizes in different categories.
The cultural highlight, ‘Bharat Shining: Echoes of Excellence and Environmental Stewardship’, showcased a captivating dance-drama inspired by Dr. K.M. Munshi’s vision of harmony with nature and Bhavan’s philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (“The world is one family”). Collaborating with Rahul Khanna’s Education through Theatre, the programme blended music, dance and storytelling, showcasing brilliant choreography, to emphasise Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a shared commitment towards a sustainable future. As a proactive step towards addressing climate change, the grand finale featured an inspiring gesture where participants distributed 100 saplings to the audience, with a heartfelt appeal to promote tree plantation.

Blood Donation Camp

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K.G. Marg, New Delhi, organised a Blood Donation Camp on November 8, 2024, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society. The event was inaugurated in M M Hall, with Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Anju Tandon and Dr. Anupam Prakash, MBBS, MD, from Lady Hardinge Medical College, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The students of Std. 11 volunteered enthusiastically, providing invaluable support to the donors and creating an atmosphere of warmth and enthusiasm.

WISL Programme

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K. G. Marg, New Delhi, had the distinct honour of hosting the Honourable Premier of Victoria, Ms. Jacinta Allan, along with her esteemed delegation on September 18, 2024.
This visit formed an integral part of the Women in School Leadership (WISL) Programme, a visionary initiative aimed at empowering women Principals across Victoria (Australia) and Delhi, fostering leadership excellence and cross-cultural learning.During their tour, the delegation explored the school’s state-of-the-art laboratories and witnessed first-hand the innovative pedagogical approaches being implemented. Premier Allan interacted with the students gaining insights into their educational journeys and ambitions.
The visit culminated with Premier Allan expressing her heartfelt appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality extended by the school. The occasion also served as a valuable platform for cultural exchange, further strengthening the educational ties between Australia and India.
