Independence Day Celebration

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya celebrated the 78th Independence Day with boundless enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on August 14, 2024. Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, Chairman Bhavan’s Delhi Kendra shared his thoughts on partition and independence struggle and emphasised on removing economic disparities and moving on the path of development of India. The biannual newsletter Bhavidya was released. The cultural programme included dance, drama, action song and musical performances by students of all the wings of the school.

NABET Onsite Final Assessment

The NABET (National Accreditation Board for Education and Training) conducted an on-site final assessment at the school on August 6-7, 2024. Dr. Usha Ravi (Lead Assessor) and Mrs. Raka Kaul (Co-Assessor) led the evaluation, which aimed to review and ensure the quality of the educational processes and standards. The assessment included thorough inspections and interactions with process owners, students, and PTA members, contributing to the school’s continuous improvement and excellence in education.

Investiture Ceremony 2024-25

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya organised the prestigious investiture ceremony for the session 2024-2025 on August 5, 2024. After the handing over of badges and house flags, Bhavan’s pledge was administered which instilled in students a sense of pride and responsibility.

DMMITS 2024

On August 9, 2024, Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, in collaboration with NASSCOM, hosted the 24th Dewang Mehta Memorial IT Symposium. The event saw participation from 52 national, 10 Bhavan’s, and 4 international schools in a hybrid format. The primary focus of the event was ‘AI Promoting Girls in IT.’ Ms. Sangeeta Gupta, Senior Vice President, Head Strategy at NASSCOM was the Chief Guest.

Launch of English–Sanskrit Dictionary

On August 21, 2024, Bhavan’s Delhi Kendra hosted a significant event to launch the much-awaited English-Sanskrit Dictionary. The occasion was graced by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, who had the privilege of releasing this monumental work.
The event was attended by a distinguished gathering, including Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Chairman of Delhi Kendra and former Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh; Shri Ashok Pradhan, Director of Delhi Kendra; Shri Jagdish Lakhani, Joint Executive Secretary; Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, Vice Chancellor of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU); Prof. Srinivasa Varakhedi, Vice Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University; and Prof. Murlimanohar Pathak, Vice Chancellor of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University.
The event commenced with a tree plantation ceremony led by the Hon’ble Vice President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Dr. (Smt.) Sudesh Dhankhar, symbolising growth and sustainability.
The Hon’ble Vice President, in his keynote address, praised the dictionary as a remarkable bridge between the ancient and modern worlds, the East and the West. He noted that the dictionary is not merely a collection of words but a profound connection to Sanskrit’s timeless contributions to global culture. He underscored the enduring relevance of Sanskrit, particularly its teachings on harmony, respect for nature, and the pursuit of knowledge in today’s world. The Vice President remarked, “Sanskrit is more than a language; it is a way of life, a philosophy that defines humanity. Sanskrit connects everyone and generates peace and tranquility.”
The Vice President also commended the comprehensive effort involved in creating the nine-volume dictionary, acknowledging the decades of dedication by the eminent linguist Prof. Raghuvira. He praised the editors, Prof. Lokesh Chandra and Prof. Shashibala, for their unwavering commitment to advancing Sanskrit studies.

Holiday Homework Display and Exhibition – 2024

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K. G. Marg, New Delhi showcased Summer Holiday Homework Exhibition on July 19, 2024 for students of Std. VI to IX. The exhibition marked the culmination of the students’ holiday efforts, showcasing their creative integration of art with academic subjects. The projects demonstrated not only their grasp of the subjects but were also a testament to their hard work, artistic talents and innovative thinking. The projects displayed were subject integrated, research based and aligned with the curricular goals and competencies of NEP 2020.

Appreciation Day Ceremony 2024

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K. G. Marg, New Delhi celebrated its annual Appreciation Day with great fervour and enthusiasm on July 19, 2024. It was the day of felicitation of the meritorious subject toppers of Class XII Board Examination for the session 2023-24. The academic awards were presented to meritorious students who secured the highest marks in CBSE Board examination 2024. This special ceremony celebrates students’ efforts and offers a moment of pride for their teachers. Each subject teacher wrote personalised certificates for the top students in their respective subjects.

Shraddhanjali

One of the Bhavan’s oldest Life Members, Shri P. Chandrasekharan—retired News Editor, All India Radio, New Delhi—passed away on July 25, 2024. He was 94. His wife Smt. K.P. Kalyanikutty Amma had passed away recently, on May 30, 2024.
Shri. Chandrasekharan was the former Vice Chairman of the Bhavan’s Kozhikode Kendra and later served as one of its members, till his demise. He was also the former President of the Tapasya Kala-Sahitya Vedi, Kozhikode and President of the Central Government Pensioner’s Association, Kozhikode. He was a senior member of the Kozhikode Akshara Shloka Kala Samithi. Despite his age, he was very active in the literary and spiritual circles. A renowned humanitarian, he has authored two notable books viz. Shrimad Bhagavatam and Devi Bhagavatam.
Shri. Chandrasekharan is the son of the late Vedic scholar and social worker, Shri. Varavoor Kaplingat Narayana Bhattathiri and Smt. Palathiruthy Lakshmikutty Amma. Under its Book University, Bhavan’s has published Shrutyarthmuktavali authored by V. K. Narayana Bhattathiri in association with V. K. Narayana Bhattathiri Memorial Trust.
Shri. Chandrasekharan is survived by his children Commodore C. Jayaraj (retired Indian Navy) and Dr. C. Kesavadas (Senior Professor and HOD, Radiology at Sri Chitra Thirunal Institute, Thiruvananthapuram) and daughters-in-law Smt. Rajashree Jayaraj and Dr. Anju Kesavadas.
May Shri. Chandrasekharan’s soul rest in eternal peace.

Bhavan's Talks

On May 6, 2024, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Delhi Kendra had the honour of hosting Subedar Major and Honorary Captain Yogendra Singh Yadav, a recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest wartime gallantry award in yet another special edition of Bhavan’s Talks. Shri Ashok Pradhan, Director Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Delhi Kendra felicitated Captain Yadav with Bhavan’s silver medallion and publications. In his talk, Captain Yadav shared his inspiring story of courage and patriotism. He said that he was the part of a leading team tasked with capturing Tiger Hill during the Kargil War of 1999.

MMRC 2024

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K. G. Marg, New Delhi, organised the 51st Munshi Memorial Inter-School Recitation and Smt. Lilavati Munshi Memorial Painting Competition on April 26, 2024, attracting participation from 26 schools in Delhi-NCR. The occasion celebrated students’ creativity and cultural enthusiasm, in harmony with the educational ethos. Springdales School bagged the trophy in the Recitation Competition, while Birla Vidya Niketan claimed the trophy in the Painting Competition.

Celebrating Earth Day

A special assembly was conducted to mark Earth Day on April 22, 2024, focusing on instilling environmental awareness in the children. The assembly featured a poignant skit and a heartfelt poem that underscored our responsibility as the stewards and caretakers of the planet. The Eco Club President administered a pledge, followed by an Earth Day rally, sparking enthusiasm for environmental preservation.

Bagless Days

The Five-Day Bagless Days Project commenced on January 29, 2024, for the students of Std. 6-8. It offered a variety of skill-based, hands-on activities and workshops to instil values and 21st century skills like teamwork, communication, leadership, digital literacy, physical fitness, analytical skills and dexterity. The workshops covered topics such as coding, digital citizenship, mask making, pottery, indigenous sports, story-telling, art and craft, western dance and more. All activities were aligned with CBSE Skills modules and developed in line with the recommendations of NEP 2020, aiming to enhance students’ holistic development.

Basant Panchami Celebration


Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K. G. Marg, New Delhi, celebrated Basant Panchami with great fervour and joy on February 14, 2024. The festival that is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati saw the young learners from Nursery class to Std. 2, in their bright yellow clothing, perform a group dance, ‘Saraswati Vandana’, and an enchanting invocation. All the students, teachers and staff came together to worship Goddess Saraswati.

Visit to Viksit Bharat

A team of art teachers attended Viksit Bharat, an awe-inspiring event organised by the National Gallery of Modern Art and Lalit Kala Academy in Delhi. The event, held at Purana Quila on March 10, 2024, witnessed an impressive gathering of over 12,000 artists from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. The bustling energy at the venue, pulsating with creative fervour, was a testament to the vibrancy of the artistic community.

Std. 12 Farewell 2024

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K.G. Marg, New Delhi, bid a poignant farewell to its Std. 12 batch on February 9, 2024. Smt. Veena Joshi, a distinguished alumna, was the Chief Guest. She lauded the students’ commitment and urged them to embrace collaboration. Reflecting nostalgically and considering the influence of her alma mater, she urged the youngsters to pursue meaningful careers. The event included honours for school and house appointments, and the release of the school newsletter.

Bal Utsav 2024

The inaugural Bal Utsav on February 6, 2024, transformed the school campus into a hub of joy and laughter. Students and parents were enthralled by the kaleidoscope of activities, showcasing collaborative efforts of parents and teachers in unison. The event featured thrilling carnival rides, delectable treats, a plethora of engaging activities and educational experiences, blending tradition with modernity. Cultural corners highlighted the nation’s diverse heritage, while eco-friendly initiatives like the Herbal Garden and Waste Management and nutritious eating advocacy promoted sustainability and added depth to the festivities. The Bal Utsav fostered values of teamwork, creativity and cultural appreciation, ensuring a memorable and impactful experience for all attendees.

CBSE National Science Exhibition

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K.G. Marg, New Delhi, accomplished a noteworthy achievement as its students participated in the CBSE National Level Science Exhibition held at Mayur School, Noida, from February 1 to 3, 2024. Saanchi Baweja (Std. 9) and Tanvi Sharma (Std. 9) presented their creative safety device, called ‘Doze Alert’, focusing on the theme of Transportation and Safety, while offering valuable learning experiences.

Herbal Garden Assembly

Under the banner of ‘Herbal Garden Club’, an assembly was organised on February 2, 2024, by the students of Std. 4. The theme of the assembly was ‘Importance of Herbs’. It was a blend of dance, song, a street play and short speeches on kitchen herbs.

Soil Day Celebration

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K.G. Marg, New Delhi, celebrated World Soil Day 2023 under the theme ‘How Save Soil Can Fix Climate Change’. Various activities were conducted from December 5 to 7, 2023, for the students of Nursery to Std. 9 like Poster-Making, Soil Handprints, Slogan-Writing, Poem and Song Writing, Watching Videos and Sowing Seeds. The aim of these activities was to raise awareness among the students on the importance of healthy soil for healthy life.

Meeting and Honouring Community Helpers

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K.G. Marg, New Delhi, organised the event ‘Meeting And Honouring the Community Helpers’ for Nursery and KG children on December 15, 2023. Children expressed their gratitude and thanked all the community helpers of Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya by giving them cards and chocolates. The children of Nursery performed the amazing action song ‘Dhobi aaya’, which was appreciated by all present.

Athletic Meet –2023

A three-day Annual Athletic Meet was organised at Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K.G.Marg, New Delhi, on November 30, December 1 and 4, 2023. The school hosted an array of track and field events for boys and girls competing in the senior, junior and sub-junior categories. The eight houses battled on the field to grab the Championship and Best House trophy. The prize distribution ceremony saw the winners beaming with pride as they were presented with medals and certificates.

Indo-Korea Cultural exchange Programme

Students from Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K.G.Marg, New Delhi, and Eun Pyeong High School in South Korea participated in an Indo-Korean Cultural Exchange Programme on December 21, 2023. The focus was on the theme, ‘School life and activities’. Important insights were exchanged during this conversation (via Skype), which helped the two schools develop a strong mutual understanding and a knowledge-sharing relationship.

Mathematics Day Celebration

National Mathematics Day is celebrated annually on December 22 to honour the birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan, the great Indian mathematical genius who made an exemplary contribution to Mathematics. The day was celebrated with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of mathematics in day-to-day life situations and also to encourage students to develop an interest in studying Mathematics. As part of the celebrations, the school held a special assembly on December 21, 2023, and students from all classes participated in activities like poetry recitation, elocution, dance, quiz competition and drama, all of which were centred around the theme of mathematics The winners were honoured in the assembly.

65th Annual Day Celebrations

Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K.G. Marg, New Delhi, celebrated its 65th Annual Day on November 3, 2023. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri. Gopal Krishna Agarwal, Eminent Scholar, Social Reformer and an Alumnus of the 1980 batch. The school magazine ‘Bhavidya’ was released by the Chief Guest. Saraswati Samman was conferred upon three teachers for completing 25 years of service in the institution. The cultural programme, the play, ‘Shaurya—the Journey of Soldier’ that saw a mass participation of about 587 students was brilliantly conceptualised and directed by Mr. Rahul Khanna, an alumnus of 2003.

Vigilance Day Assembly 2023

A special Vigilance Day assembly at Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K.G.Marg, New Delhi, marked the commencement of Vigilance Awareness Week. The assembly showcased informative news headlines, a thought (that was articulated) and a speech by the Vice Head Girl and the Vice Head Boy highlighting the importance of vigilance in daily life. The winners of the Poster-Making and Essay-Writing Competitions, which were based on the theme, “Say No to Corruption; Commit to the Nation”, were rewarded.

QCI Inspection

The NABET Accreditation Committee conducted a comprehensive two-day surveillance visit to Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya, K.G.Marg, New Delhi, on November 20 and 21, 2023. Various aspects of the school, including infrastructural facilities, safety and security arrangements, administrative and financial records, and the teaching-learning processes, were audited and reviewed.

Victorian Delegate Visit

An academic delegation team from Victoria, Australia, visited Delhi for a six-day visit from October 8-13, 2023, as part of the Women in School Leadership (WISL) programme. The delegation consisted of 12 Women Principals from Victorian Schools who were here to explore opportunities on leading schools for social change with a focus on health and well-being.
Bhavan’s Mehta Vidyalaya got the opportunity to be a part of this unique professional immersion and partnership, and hosted the visiting Australian delegate Ms. Kim Mitchell, Assistant Principal of Aintree Primary School, for three days from October 11–13, 2023. Ms. Kim Mitchell was provided opportunities to observe some of the school’s best programmes and activities, and an interaction between the teachers of pre-primary & primary classes and Ms. Kim Mitchell was arranged. She was gifted souvenirs by the school.
