Amritsar Kendra
Bhavan SL Public School, Amritsar celebrated the 74th Republic Day and Basant Panchami with patriotic fervour on January 26, 2023 on its premises.
The national flag was unfurled and tri-coloured balloons were released in the air in the presence of dignitaries. The school band, NCC Cadets and Scouts and Guides presented the parade which was followed by a PT show by the students of Class 4. A group song on patriotism by the students of Gyandeep School lent a beautiful feeling of wholesomeness and loveliness to the event. The students presented a beautiful play emphasising on the importance of fundamental rights in the Constitution. Bhavanites showcased martial arts and folk dances which left the audience spellbound. Students of Muskaan School presented a role-play based on the theme of saving the environment. The monthly magazine ‘Bhavans Darshan’ was released by the Chief Guest.

Bhavan’s Kala Kendra, Amritsar organised a wonderful 80th Kala Kendra event with ‘Main Ki Kra’ a hilarious Punjabi play on January 22, 2023. The play was written and directed by Shri Aman Kumar Bhardwaj which was presented in association with K P Art Culture and Welfare Society. Sushree Teena Aggarwal, President, Phulkari WOA graced the event as the chief guest. Shri Ashok Punj, brother of Shri Kapil Sharma and S. Manmeet Singh Nagi, musician associated with famous singer Mika graced the occasion.
The play was touching and depicted a man’s life as a slave who becomes a puppet or a victim at the hands of both his mother and his wife. There were a total of 20 characters in the play who performed different roles with full enthusiasm. From plot and characters, to theme, language, rhythm, the play was spectacular in all respects.
Chairman Sh. Avinash Mohindru underlined in his speech about the welfare of the society and especially appreciated the multi-talented Shri Aman Kumar Bhardwaj who was director, writer, performer of the play.

CBSE organised Rope Skipping National Competition in Rohtak from January 2 – 4, 2023. Tanmay and Raghav (under-14) and Harshit, Rudhar, Gorish and Aashish (under-19) category got third position.

Under the guidance of Chairman Sh. Avinash Mohindru and Director Principal Dr. Anita Bhalla, a two-day CBSE Regional Science Exhibition 2022 was hosted by Bhavan S L Public School Amritsar on the theme ‘Technology and Toys’ on December 19-20, 2022 in which young scientists demonstrated their creativity and innovation.
In all, 97 teams from various districts of Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir presented their models on different sub-themes. Out of these, 14 projects were selected for the national level. Of them, 2 positions were bagged by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan S L Public School Amritsar.

The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, organised Children’s Science Congress in collaboration with PG Department of Zoology, Khalsa College, Amritsar. Bhavan’s SL Public School students Suhana and Hardik from Senior Team along with Siya and Vaibhav from Junior Team performed spectacularly by bagging the 1st position.

Bhavan’s SL Public School organised “Srijan” Art and Craft exhibition on December 9, 2022, on the school premises. The students heartily felicitated the chief guest by presenting a beautiful dance. Students of Pre wing made handicrafts of various shapes and sizes like jute bags, mittens, napkins, doll houses, net bags, mittens, aprons, etc. Students of Classes II to V displayed articles like cushion covers, pen stands, Christmas decorations, bottle covers, etc. Students of Std. VI to VIII prepared bottle covers, potli (bags), toran (door hangings), wall hangings and Christmas articles. Students of Std. IX and X displayed their skills by weaving T-shirts, jute bags, multipurpose mats and home decor items. TLM’s (teaching / learning materials) and working models were displayed on various subjects such as the printing press, clinometer, spinning jenny, geoboard, windmill, formal letter, etc. Students of Shri P D Kumar Memorial Gyandeep (Free Evening School) created eco-friendly articles out of waste. Students of Bhavan’s Muskan (a school for mentally challenged, autistic and Down syndrome children) showcased their talents by making hand-fans, an ice-cream parlour, mushroom dolphins, etc.

Bhavan’s Kala Kendra held its 76th Sham-e-Ghazal programme under the direction of the management committee of Bhavans SL Public School, on November 27, 2022. Ghazal singers Ramesh Bhagat and Shilpi Ganguly regaled the audience with their melodious voices. The Chief Guest Dr. Arvinder Singh Chamak congratulated the School for promoting Indian culture among the students.

Mayank Mishra, a student of Bhavan’s SL Public School put up a spectacular performance in the district-level INSPIRE Awards - MANAK, Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE). An innovative programme sponsored and managed by the Dept of Science and Technology, it was held at GGSSS Maha Singh gate on November 17 and 18, 2022. The school project “Energy Saving Building” won a merit position. Now it will be presented at state level.

Bhavan’s SL Public School, Amritsar organised ‘Shabad Kirtan’ and ‘Guru Ka Langar’ on the auspicious occasion of 553rd birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on November 8, 2022. Chairman Sh. Avinash Mohindru, Director Principal Dr. Anita Bhalla and other members of school management welcomed the various guests and presented a memento to the chief guest Dr. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh. The day began with ‘Sukhmani Sahib Path’ followed by Shabad Kirtan, which created a devotional ambience. Guru Ka Langar was served, in which school’s teachers, students and parents took active part.

The Graduation Ceremony and Annual Prize Distribution was celebrated on October 15, 2022. The Chief Guest, Dr (Prof) Deepa Kauts (Dean Faculty of Education, GNDU, Amritsar) graced the occasion with her presence. Overall 750 students from Grades 2 to 6 participated in the ceremony. The programme witnessed the Grade 2 students in their Graduation attire, wearing gowns and caps. The event saw splendid performances by students of Grade 5. The achievements of Bhavanites in academics was also acknowledged and appreciated by awarding them certificates.
