Kozhikode Kendra

A Versatile Student

Anwita Niju, a Std. 7 student of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School, Perumthiruthi, Kozhikode, is a versatile student who has tried her hand in dance, music and sports. 
Anwita has been an ardent yoga practitioner from the time she was in Std. 4 and has displayed the subtle science of harmony between mind and body. 
She is an active participant in school events of district, state and even national championships. 
Anwita has added many feathers to her cap by winning several competitions in the year 2022. A few of her achievements are:
1st prize in Calicut District Sports Yoga Competition
1st prize in NYF District Yoga Competition
1st prize in NYSF District Yoga Competition
1st prize in District Yoga Olympiad 
1st prize in State Yoga Olympiad 
She participated in the National Yoga Competition held in Maharashtra and she is looking forward to participating in the National Yoga Olympiad.

Art Exhibition 'Dreams of colours'

Deekshith M V of Class 4 of Bhavan's School, a gifted budding artist, started showing his aptitude in drawing from a tender age. His pencil drawings are very realistic and helped him take his drawing skills to the next level. He has shown his talent in artistic water colours, acrylic water colours, glass paint, coffee paint, oil paste, mural painting, etc. and bagged many prizes in various painting competitions.
This young artist was fortunate enough to conduct a three-day art exhibition titled 'Dreams of Colours' at S.K. Pottakkadu Cultural Centre, inaugurated by the renowned artist Shri Madanan.
It was indeed a feast for art lovers!

Book Release

In connection with the get-together meeting of all units of Bhavan's Kendra in Kerala, Sri Jagdish Prakash Lakhaniji, the Joint Executive Secretary and Registrar of Bhavan, visited Calicut on December 10 and 11, 2022. He visited the schools and interacted with the principals and teachers.
Sri J. P. Lakhaniji released the book written by Acharyasri A. K. B. Nair titled 'Sri Shankaracharya Darshana Dwadashakam' by handing over a copy of the book to Dr. V. Unnikrishnan Nair, Vice Chairman, BVB Kendra Trivandrum.

ATL of Bhavan's Chevayur Inaugurated

The Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) was set up in Bhavan's School, Chevayur, to foster curiosity, creativity and imagination in young minds and to inculcate skills such as a developing a design-oriented mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing, etc. The lab was inaugurated on December 10, 2022, by Shri. Jagdish Lakhani, Joint Executive Secretary and Registrar, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Shri. Ramankutty Warrier, Director of Bhavan's Kochi Kendra was the Guest of Honour. The function was presided over by Shri. A K B Nair, Chairman, Bhavan's Kozhikode Kendra.
During the inaugural function of the ATL, a PowerPoint presentation of the school's achievement in robotics was shown and self-prepared projects of students were displayed. Students also spoke about the various equipments of the ATL and explained how to use them. Master Ritwik Sreenish, the National Level winner in Robotics, also described his various innovative projects and products that were created to help the community. Shri Jagdish Lakhani appreciated the students' enthusiasm and talents and wished them good luck. He also visited the School Radio station 'Bhavans Radio 19.90'. The student RJs (radio jockeys) had a session with Lakhani Sir and Ramankutty Sir, which went on air during the lunch break on December 12, 2022.

Football Training Centre

The Malabar Sports and Recreation foundation (M.S.R.F.) Calicut is planning to establish a world-class football academy at Calicut to groom talent on the principle of 'catch them young',  and train them in a professional manner by using knowhow from the best football clubs of the world.      
The M.S.R.F. invited Bhavan's Kendra Calicut to conduct the training on the campus playground of Bhavan's School, Perunthuruthi.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Chairman, Bhavan's Kendra, Calicut, Acharyasri A. K. B. Nair and the Chairman M.S.R.F. Calicut, Sri Vijayan Balakrishnan, former Chief Secretary of Goa, in April.
The Kendra office bearers, principals of Bhavan's schools, and former Indian Ambassador to Guatemala, Sri Sajiv Babu, were present on the occasion.

On February 6, 2020 at Bhavan School, Perumthiruthi, Guru Sreshta Acharya Sri AKB Nair (Chairman, Kozhikode Kendra) unveiled the images of the two legendary personalities of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kozhikode Kendra, the great patrons Shri V. K. Eradi, founder of Kozhikode Kendra and Dr. K. Madhavankutty, Chairman, Kozhikode Kendra from 2007-2018, the true Visionaries who strived hard to bring the institution to great heights.
The distribution of admit cards to standard X and XII were also held on the same day.

A Warm Welcome for Mother

Acharya Sri A K B Nair Chairman Bhavan's Calicut Kendra received the world-renowned spiritual mother Mata Amritanandamayi Devi with poornakumbha.
Acharya Patni Anandavalli Angepat conducted pada pooja for the divine mother.

Acharya Couple Honoured and Felicitated

Bhavan's Calicut Kendra Chairman Acharyasri A.K.B.Nair and his wife Acharya Vanisri Anandavalli Angepatt were honoured and felicitated on their Golden Jubilee Year of wedding and 70th birth anniversary of Smt. Anandavalli Angepatt. A rousing reception was accorded by the disciples and admirers of the Acharya couple at Snehanjali community hall at Calicut on March 7, 2020. Dr.Priyadarsan Lal the visiting Professor of Sree Sankara Sanskrit University, Kerala presided over the function.
Smt.Hemalatha Chandran the wife of Sri P.V.Chandran the Managing Editor of Mathrubhoomi lit the auspicious lamp.
Kulapati of Kashyapa Veda Research foundation Acharyasri Dr. M.R. Rajesh presented Jnanaprabha Award and a citation to Vanisri Vaikharisri Smt. Anandavalli Angepatt in recognition of her active participation of more than two hundred sapthaha navaha yagnam at different places in India along with her husband Acharyasri A.K.B.Nair.
A book entitled Jnana Deepthi, a collection of articles written by Acharyasri A.K.B.Nair was released by Sri P.V. Chandran by handing over a copy to Sri P.J. Joshwa Chief News Editor of Malayala Manorama. The book was introduced by Sri Annop Kunnath Regional Head of Janam TV channel.
Calicut City Corporation Mayor Sri Thottathil Ravindran and Kozhikode Lokasabha M.P. Sri M.K. Raghavan felicitated the Acharya couple with an angavastram.

Book presented to Dr. Mohan Bhagavat

The English version of Srivishnusahasranama Lalithavyakhyanam (exhaustive commentary) of Acharya Sri A. K. B. Nair, the Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Calicut Kendra published by Book University of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mumbai was presented to RSS Sarsanghachalak Dr. Mohan Bhagvat when he visited Calicut in connection with the inauguration of the newly constructed Kesari Media studies and Research Centre on 29 December 2020. The book was presented by Dr. Aryadevi, the Chief Physician of Sukrutham Ayurvedic nursing home and the managing committee member of BVB Calicut Kendra.

1st C V Raman Education awards for principals

On the occasion of Teachers' day, Mrs. Thara Krishnan, principal, Bhavan's School, Chevayur, Kozhikode received an award from ThinkNiti, a not-for-profit research organisation which organised the 1st C V Raman Education awards for principals. The awards were sponsored by Curious Minds Institute an EdTech Company focused on innovative learning. These awards commemorated and recognised the unprecedented leadership skills shown by school principals during the time of the pandemic. The event was virtually organised and was attended by principals of various schools across the country.
The event focused on leadership skills and recognised the principals as CEOs of schools. Record-breaking nominations were received from 20,000 school principals across India. Altogether 154 school principals were recognised for their exemplary leadership in education and their exceptional commitment during COVID Crisis. All the winners were felicitated with a certificate and trophy.
