The customary address by the Chairman for the academic year 2022–23 was held on May 27, 2022 at Sardar Sabha Griha, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, T D Road. Shri C.A. Venugopal and Shri C. Govind, Chairman, addressed the teachers prior to the commencement of the new academic year.
The meeting was attended by the members of the Kendra committee, Principals, Vice-Principals, Education Officers, Research Coordinators, heads of the other institutions under Kochi Kendra, over 700 teachers from seven schools, six Bala Mandirs, Bhavan’s Royal Institute of Management, Thiruvamkulam and Bhavan’s College of Arts & Commerce, Kakkanad and staff members.
After the formal meeting, an induction programme was held for the newly appointed teachers as well as for teachers who joined during 2021–22.
The entire programme gave the teachers insights about the history and background of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, ideals and objectives, roles and responsibilities of staff in general, classroom transaction and management, teacher-student relationship, training, mentoring NEP and its implementation plan etc.
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kochi Kendra hosted the get-together of Chairmen, Secretaries, Treasurers, Directors and Kendra committee members of all Bhavan’s Kendras in Kerala on May 15, 2022 at Sardar Patel Sabha Griha, Bhavan’s Kochi Kendra. Shri Jagdish Lakhani, Joint Executive Secretary and Registrar, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai was the Chief Guest. More than 50 members from various Bhavan’s Kendras in Kerala attended the meeting.
Shri Jagdish Lakhani addressed the gathering and emphasised on the importance of preservation and propagation of culture, values, social activities, welfare projects, Sanskrit, regional languages etc.
Representatives from each Kendra presented a brief report on the functioning of the Kendra and its units and also expressed their concerns on various matters. Shri Jagdish Lakhani assured all support, guidance and assistance from Central Bhavan to each Kendra and its institutions. He also had individual meetings with representatives of various Bhavan’s Kendras in Kerala.
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra celebrated Navaratri from October 10-15, 2021. Students of institutions under Kochi Kendra participated in cultural programmes like Carnatic music, dance dramas etc. on the virtual platform.
Vidyarambham was held at on October 15, 2021 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, T D Road, Ernakulam. The puja was followed by 'Veena Vadan' by the students from Kalabharati (Bhavan's Institute of Fine Arts).
The Kendra hosted an online workshop on Indian classical music, dance, Art & crafts - 'ANUBHAV 3' - in association with SPICMACAY from October 10-14, 2021. Nearly 700 students participated in the 5-day workshop and learnt these Indian art forms directly from great masters. After 15 hours of training, the students made a presentation on the last day. The event received wonderful feedback from the Gurus about the dedication and interest shown by Bhavan's students during the workshop.
The students of Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Eroor, joined hands in celebrating and observing the Founder's Day virtually on November 8, 2021 in the best possible manner. The day's activities started by paying floral tribute and pranams to Munshiji. Students rendered Bhavan's Anthem and a documentary highlighting the life and principles of Munshiji was shown to all the students after the Assembly.
Sumisha S Pai, a class 8 student of BVM Elamakkara, Kochi won the UJWALA BALYAM-2020 award, instituted by the Kerala State Department of Women and Child Development.
She bagged the award in the age group of 12-18 years. Ujwala Balyam is awarded to children excelling in arts, sports, literature, social and cultural avenues.
Sumisha won the award for her excellence in Vedic mathematics, mental mathematics, yoga and her efforts in starting a YouTube channel 'Learn with Sumisha', through which she acquaints viewers with tips to befriend mathematics. Moreover, she is a talented glass painter and singer too.
Sumisha is the daughter of Meghana and Suresh of Ratnagruha House, Elamakkara.
Kochi Kendra celebrated the birth anniversary of Kulapati Dr. K M Munshi by organising the 3rd Kulapati Dr. K. M. Munshi Memorial Oration on December 30, 2021 on the virtual platform.
Hon. Chief Justice (Retd.) Shri. Thottathil B Radhakrishnan (Former Chief Justice of the High Court, Calcutta) graced the occasion and addressed the gathering with an inspiring oration on the topic 'You are Your Own Witness - Truth and Conscience'. He elaborated on the concept of static truth and its ideal manifestation through oneself.
The event was one of a kind and a true homage to the great legend and founder of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kulapati Dr K M Munshi on his 134th birth anniversary.
Rajagiri School of Engineering & Technology in collaboration with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra launched Student Guild, a comprehensive academic association programme to foster 21st century skills among students at the secondary level. The School Guild aims to encourage relationships, promote mutual intellectual exchanges between students, faculty, administrators of RSET and the two schools under Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra - Bhavan's Munshi Vidyashram and Bhavan's Adarsha Vidyalaya.
This initiative mainly focuses on academic collaborations / MOOC certification courses / trainings/ research in pertinent domains like design thinking, entrepreneurship skills, artificial intelligence, problem solving/coding, hackathons, IoT and much more, aligning with the new National Educational Policy.
The logo release and the digital presentation of an overview of School Guild added zest to the programme.
Chrysalis is the first programme under the 'School Guild' initiative. It is a technical training programme that aims at educating students in five specific disciplines-science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. The goal is to improve the skills of the students through the use of computational thinking, system modelling, designs and more.
Students are encouraged to identify their areas of specialisation, widen their horizons and sharpen their skills that excite them. Once identified, they can work in a structured manner to reach their goal. The programme is a great success and has paved the way for 'Happy Learning Experience' as students find the whole process interesting and are up to date with the current technological advancements.
The XII All India Conference for Principals of Bhavan's Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools, organised by Shikshan Bharati was hosted by Bhavan's Kochi Kendra and was inaugurated on January 31, 2022 by Sri Manoj Ahuja, IAS, Chairman, CBSE on the virtual platform.
Sri. E Ramankutty, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra introduced the theme of the conference 'Sustainable Development - Vision to Reality'. C A Venugopal C Govind, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra presided over the function and delivered the presidential address. Poojya Swami Mitrananda, Chinmaya Mission, Chennai delivered the benedictory address. In his address, he highlighted that education for sustainable development is fundamental in the evolution of a perfect human being.

The 35th Bhavan's Shri M.K.K. Nayar Memorial All Kerala Inter School Quiz was held on a virtual platform at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra on January 29, 2022. Twenty seven schools participated in the online Quiz.
The team consisting of Krishnarpith Nettayikko and Aadhitya Jaganath L of Bhavan's Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara won the Bhavan's Ever Rolling Trophy while Keerthi Preman and Rupin Sandesh of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kannur won the second position and Master Hrishikesh Varma and Neeraj B Nair of Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Girinagar won the third position.
Bhavan's Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad celebrated the 73rd Republic Day with great patriotic fervour. The celebration began with the unfurling of the tricolour by the Principal, Sri K Suresh accompanied by the Vice Principal, Smt Jyothi P and PTA members. Smt Deepa Varghese, teacher, Dept of Social Science delivered the Republic Day message. The NCC cadets sang patriotic songs to commemorate the day.
