2001 |
- Shri S. Ramakrishnan, Executive Secretary & Director General of the Bhavan honoured with the National Award of Padma Bhushan. He is also awarded 'The Giants International Award 2000 for Excellence in Education'.
- In recognition of Bhavan's multifarious activites, the Government of India, through the Director General, Income - Tax (Exemptions), Calcutta, notified the Bhavan as an Educational Institution of National Eminence to be eligible for the benefits of section 80(G) (1). Under this section, donations to the Bhavan will have rebate.
- Bhavan's Kodagu Kendra is started.
- Bhavan's Ramanattukara Kendra is started.
- Bhavan's Ujjain Kendra is started.
- The Bhavan collected Rs. 61. 26 lakhs for the Bhavan's Shaheed Parivar Raksha Nidhi for assisting the families of those affected by the Pakistani incursion in the Kargil sector. The Nidhi was presented to the Prime Minister Shri Atal behari Vajpayee. (6.8.2001)

- Bhavan's Bagalkot Kendra is started.
- Bhavan's Bellary Kendra is started.
- Bhavan's Royal Institute of Management, Kochi is started.
- Mr. Bill Gates, Chairman and Chief Software Architect, Microsoft Corporation, USA visits the Bhavan for the second time on November 13, 2002.

- The Bhavan is chosen for the International Gandhi Peace Prize 2002 for its significant contribution towards spreading of education, integration of the best of ancient and modern values and promotion of peace and Harmony among all Faiths and communities.
- Shri Sundaram Ramakrishnan, a true Gandhian Patriot, Institution - builder, and Bhavan's Executive Secretary & Director General who served the Bhavan nearly six decades passes away. ( February 14)
- Bhavan's News Print Vidyalaya, Kottayam is started.
- Bhavan's College of Science and Technology in Agartala is started.

- The President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam visits the Central Bhavan.
- Dr. Karan Singh, M.P. and Chairman of Bhavan's Jammu & Kashmir Kendra has beeen conferred Padama Vibhushan by the President of India.
- Smt. Shobhana Bharatiya, Bhavan's Trustee and Vice Chairperson & Editorial Director of Hindustan Times Media Limited has been conferred Padma Sri by the President of India.
- Bhavan starts Italian Language Classes.
