  • The Bhavan starts "Shibir" and organises a ten-day camp of the Trustees, staff and students to foster a sense of mission and team-spirit (From Oct. 26 to Nov. 4).
  • Shri Bisnuram Medhi, Governor of Madras, inaugurates the Bhavan's Madras Centre (November 9).
  • The Bhavan confers Honorary Membership on Shri C. Rajagopalachari (December 8)
1959
  • The Bhavan's Bangalore Centre is started.
  • The starting of Samarpan, a fortnightly in Gujarati (November 15).
1960
  • Silver Jubilee Celebration of the Bhavan's Press - Associated Advertisers and Printers - under the Presidentship of Shri S. K. Patil (December 3).
1961
  • Shri Morarji Desai, Union Minister for Finance, inaugurates the Bhavan's College of Journalism, Advertising & Printing (July 15).
  • Nawab Mehdi Nawaz Jung, Governor of Gujarat, inaugurates the Bhavan's Gujarat Centre (July 22).
  • Kulapati Munshiji performs the Khat Muhurt ceremony of the Bhavan's College of Arts and Science at Dakor, Gujarat (July 22).
  • Shri Y. B. Chavan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, lays the foundation-stone of the Bhavan's Sardar Patel College of Engineering in Bhavan's Campus, Andheri, Bombay (September 17).
  • Bhavan confers Hon. Membership on Shri S.K. Patel, Union Minister for Food and Agriculture.(September 17)

  • Bhavan confers Hon. Membership on Shri Sri Prakasa.(April 12)
  • Dr. Jivraj Mehta, Chief Minister of Gujarat, inaugurates the Bhavan's College of Arts & Science at Dakor, Gujarat (June).
  • Shri Jawaharlal Nehru, Prime Minister of India, inaugurates the Bhavan's Sardar Patel College of Engineering at Andheri, Bombay (August).
  • Formation of an all-India Committee for the Bhavan's Silver Jubilee Celebrations under the Presidentship of Dr. Rajendra Prasad (September).
  • Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, President of India, inaugurates the Bhavan's Silver Jubilee Celebrations (December 20).
  • Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, President of India, lays the foundation-stone of the Bhavan's Public School at Baroda, Gujarat.
  • Kulapati Munshiji gifts his Matheran property to the Bhavan on the occasion of his 76th Birthday.
1963
  • The Bhavan acquires a building of its own at Madras to house its Madras Centre.
  • Shri K. Kamaraj, Chief Minister of Madras, inaugurates the Bhavan's Silver Jubilee Celebrations at Madras.
  • His Highness Shri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, Governor of Mysore, inaugurates the Bhavan's Silver Jubilee Celebrations at Bangalore (June 8).
  • Shri S. K. Patil, Union Minister for Food and Agriculture, lays the foundation-stone of the building (annexe) at Chowpatty.
  • Dr. Zakir Husain, Vice-President of India, inaugurates the Book University One-Rupee Series (November 8).
  • Bhavan starts "Samskritik Vikas Yatras" (Cultural-cum-Educational Tours) (December 1).
1964
  • Government of Gujarat allots a plot of land in Ahmedabad for the Bhavan's Gujarat Centre.
  • Shri Morarji Desai performs the Khat Muhurt ceremony of Patel Jethalal Amritlal Auditorium for Bhavan's Gujarat Centre at Ahmedabad (April 17).
  • The Bhavan's Coimbatore Centre is started.
  • Government of Uttar Pradesh allots a plot of land in Kanpur Cantonment for the Bhavan's Kanpur Centre.
  • Government of Mysore allots a plot of land in Bangalore for the Bhavan's Bangalore Centre.
  • Bhavan organises the "Samskritik Vichara Samiti."
  • The starting of Samvid, a quarterly in Sanskrit.
  • Bhavan organises the 'Bhavan International.'
    Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, President of India, lays the foundation-stone of the new buildings of the Bhavan's Madras Centre (October 29).
