Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Pathanamthitta under Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai was formally inaugurated by then Education Minister of Kerala, Shri. M. A. Baby on October 6th, 2007 in the August presence of Shri. Ashok Kumar Singh IAS, Ho. Chairman of Bhavan's and the District Collector of Pathanamthitta, Shri. T. K. A. Nair IAS who was then the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India, Shri. P. I. Sherief Mohammed, Hon. Secretary of BVM who was an officer with the Sales Tax Department, Govt. of Kerala.
The school started with LKG, UKG and first std with more than 100 plus students lead by 5 teachers (Mrs. Suvarna Sasi, Mrs. Manjulatha T, Mrs. Sheela C, Mrs. Leena Upaguptan and Mrs. Suni). Mrs. Ragini Singh was the first Principal.
The managing committee of the school consist of eminent persons like T. A. Nair IAS, Rajendra Kumar IAS, Lieutenant Colonel Mohanlal, Rahul Nair IPS and other eminent persons. The Director of the school Sherief Mohammed who is also the President of Sree Ramakrishna Asram, Pathanamthitta, is the Senior Vice President of All Kerala Hand Ball Association and Executive Committee Member of the District Olympic Association. Also, sports and Hindi are compulsory subject for all classes. To promote adventure and courageous traits to students, selected students are taken to the adventure park of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai.
The CBSE Campus is located at Variyapuram, Elanthoor with an area of around 5 acres. The campus provides excellent infrastructure with 27 class rooms (size as per the norms of CBSE), well equipped Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, Social Studies and Comprehensive labs.
The star attraction of Bhavan's is the ATAL Tinkering Lab by Niti Ayog, Govt. of India which enhances scientific temper and enables students to become Young innovators of tomorrow.
The school has 2 well set computer labs sponsored by TCS. We do have a well-furnished library with more than 6000 books and a sports room with various sports equipment's.
We have an academically and professionally trained dedicated team as our teaching faculty. The Principal is assisted by a Vice Principal, HOD's of various subjects, a steering group consisting of senior teachers and a team of co-curricular teachers.
To commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. K. M. Munshi, the founder of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, a tribal village at Attathodu on the way to Sabarimala was adopted by Bhavan's Vidya Mandir. The students and the teachers has been closely interacting with the tribals and used to visit them during the festive seasons to help with provisions, clothing, study materials etc., which was a great help to them.
A Medical Camp was arranged for the tribes of Attathodu under the joint auspices of Bhavan's Vidya Mandir (BVM), Pathanamthitta and J M Hospital, Elanthoor on 08th Sept, 2013.
We at Bhavan's, Pathanamthitta inculcate a sense among our students to protect and safe guard Mother Earth. To be with Nature we have seasonal vegetable garden, a well maintained medicinal garden with a wide variety of Medicinal plants. We secured second position in the District Seed Programme conducted by Mathrubhumi and VKC. Our students distributed curry leaves plant to the houses near the school so that people could use curry leaves grown at home which otherwise comes with plenty of pesticides sprayed from other states.
