Bhavan's Public School, Hyderabad, was awarded two certificates for 'The Highest volume of Waste paper collection' and 'The Best Cleanest Day Drive' as part of British Council schools online 'The Grand Banyan Project 2011-12'. This initiative of the British Council was in collaboration with the NGO 'I Love my mother Earth Foundation'. More than 300 schools participated in this contest. Through the different components of the project, students demonstrated their exemplary work.
The award ceremony took place at British Council Young Global Citizenship summit at Sai International School, Bhubaneswar on January 28, 2012. Three students along with Smt. Arunasree Ganti, co-ordinator of the project, attended a four day training programme from January 26 to 29, 2012. The residential camp at Bhubaneswar provided a unique opportunity for the students to take part in workshops, events and discussions.
